Operation and performance of VRF systems: Mining a large-scale dataset

The energy consumption of air-conditioning systems has gained increasing attention as it contributes significantly to the global building use. variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system is a common applied widely in residential and office buildings China. Understanding actual operation performance VRF fundamental for energy-efficient design systems. Previous research on used either limited field data covering certain types climate zones or questionnaire obtain larger dataset. However, they did not capture wide applications quantitatively across all types, zones, operating conditions. To fill this gap, statistical clustering analysis was conducted newly proposed key indicators approximately 287,000 commercial five main findings are: (1) are mainly cooling China; (2) among duration use lowest highest hotels medical buildings; (3) distribution ideal coefficient (COP) similar types; whereas COPs heating Severe Cold region regions lower than those other zones; (4) partial load operations due part-time-part-space mode.
